Have you shopped at Pick n Pay lately?
Next time you go there, and you have a DiscoveryCard, make sure you hand it to the cashier FIRST!
I’m not sure why the system works this way, but they seem to need to swipe the card BEFORE ringing up the purchases for them to be counted as a Vitality Purchase.
Why Vitality and Pick n Pay?
Looks like any time you purchase a healthy food item from Pick n Pay they will give you a refunded discount on that item.
I haven’t quite figured out what items count towards this because either we eat REALLY healthily in our house, or almost every food item gives you the discount. I’m obviously not complaining.
So, what types of purchases have you made recently where you got a good discount?
As a new Discovery Credit Card member I logged on to this website for the first time today. When I spoke to sales reps etc. in the process of getting the card I was not informed that I was required to hand the card first and have not done so previously, how do I redeem the discount now?
I don’t think you CAN get the discount afterwards, if you haven’t received it already. For some reason, I do get the discount even if I swipe the card afterwards.
Oh, and just a note, this is not an official DiscoveryCard website. I just own the card, and was writing about how LOOOOOOONG it took me to actually get it. Now I just write about it.
The tellers at pick n pay seem to think that they can swipe the card before they “total” the amount and that works. Not Sure. I hope it does cause i make a concerted effort to only use my Discovery card.
It seems to work for me. I’ve even had tellers asking me first before I even take the card out of my wallet.

The Vitality Card in this case is your credit card. If you don’t have a Discovery Card (the credit card) yet, you’ll need to apply for that.
And, the credit card will become your membership card as well.
